PREREQUISITE: Two years of band instrument experience and basic
music-reading ability.
Jazz music has a performance style and history distinctly different from traditional concert band. In Summer Jazz Band, students will perform jazz music while learning about jazz style. Students will strengthen instrument performance skills while learning how to perform within a jazz ensemble. Summer Jazz Band is open to students who play flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone/euphonium, piano, and percussion. Students also have the option of signing up for private lessons for individualized instruction with the band director and/or specialized teachers, for additional tuition.
